From Bob and Pat Williams

James O. Shepherd

Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with the Shepherd family in this time of loss. He will certainly be missed here in our church. He was a great Christian and one of the best examples in this day and time of what Jesus was like.

I remember when our son Chad was out in sin. There were a lot of people praying for him but brother Shepherd put feet to his prayers. Many times he would stop by the house and ask if Chad was home. He would come in and tell him he loved him and was praying for him. He would also drop by his place of work on occasion to talk with him. I believe Chad's decision to follow Christ was largely because of the persistence of James Shepherd.

I also remember a "work and witness" trip I went on with brother Shepherd about 5 or 6 years ago to Hollis, OK. We went there to help build a church in the middle of the summer when temperatures were in excess of 100 degrees. James Shepherd was out in the hot sun swinging a sledgehammer. When us younger guys would stop for a break we had a hard time getting him to leave his work. He was a hard worker but he enjoyed life. I remember on that trip how he would get up early in the morning and go for a walk, come back, and tell us all the interesting things he saw.

Our loss is Heaven's gain and I am sure James Shepherd is already some special rewards for his service here on earth.
